CURRENCY
The official currency of Egypt is the Egyptian £ which is divided into 100 piastres. There are notes for 25 and 50 piastres in addition to notes of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 Egyptian pounds.

We recommend that you take sufficient local currency for buying gifts, souvenirs etc. on your shore visits as there will be little opportunity to visit a bank other than in Luxor and Aswan. However, no more than 5,000 Egyptian pounds per person can be taken either into or out of Egypt. Please exercise normal precautionary measures when carrying cash about your person.

LOCAL CUSTOMS
When in Egypt, remember to respect local laws and customs. Visitors should dress modestly, and when visiting traditional areas like mosques and souks (markets) women’s clothes should cover their head, legs and upper arms.

During your time on board we suggest casual, light clothing. Evenings are also informal with gentlemen wearing shirt and trousers and women dressing for comfort.

Photography of, or near, military official installations is strictly prohibited. Do not take photographs of individuals without their permission and remember that you may be asked for a tip for the privilege.

Photography fees are applied at many archeological sites, especially inside museums and tombs. Flash photography is not generally permitted in tombs.

EXTRA BED IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM
If more than two people share a room, e.g. 2 adults and 1 child, an extra bed may be added and space will therefore be limited. Please note that in some cases the extra bed could be a sofabed or Z-bed.

HOTEL RATINGS
The ratings shown for the hotels featured in our programme are as given by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism as a guideline only, and should not be confused with or compared to the usual international star ratings.
