Itinerary
The famous Masai Mara, with its varied scenery and great concentration of vast herds of animals, is the highlight of this fly/drive safari. Enjoy a taste of the real Africa and the unique atmosphere of the bush.
Day 1: In the morning transfer to Bamburi airstrip. From here you fly west, past majestic Mount Kilimanjaro to the Masai Mara, an extension of Tanzania's vast Serengeti. On arrival you are taken to the Mara Buffalo Camp for a two night stay. After an introductory talk you set off on your first game drive before returning to the camp for lunch. Another game drive will follow in the afternoon, returning at sunset for dinner and an evening around the campfire - time to sit back and contemplate this unique setting.
Day 2: The vast plains of the Masai Mara cover some 1,510sq km and support a wide variety of wildlife. Enjoy a full day of game watching in this dramatic setting, with a lunch-time ‘big game hunter’s’ picnic. Look out for lion, cheetah, elephant and maybe even the elusive leopard. Vast herds of buffalo, plains zebra, gazelle and wildebeest seasonally migrate between the plains of the Serengeti and the Mara's grassland.
Day 3: Set off shortly after daybreak on an early morning game drive when the animals are at their most active. Return to the camp for breakfast before being taken to the airstrip for the two hour return flight to Bamburi, arriving back at your hotel in time for lunch.
(Park entrance fees are not included: approximately £47 per person, payable locally).

The beautiful Kilimanjaro-Kimana Game Sanctuary is situated at the foot of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro and is reserved exclusively for African Safari Club guests. Fed by the Kimana fresh water springs, the reserve is extremely rich in wildlife all year round.
Day 1: Early afternoon you fly from Bamburi airstrip to the Kilimanjaro-Kimana Game Sanctuary, which is set on the banks of the Kimana River. After settling in to your accommodation, you will set off on your first game drive. Keep a look out for elephant, zebra, antelope, giraffe and buffalo. You then return to the camp for dinner and perhaps enjoy a traditional ‘sundowner’.
Day 2: After breakfast you set off on your first game drive of the day, before returning to the camp for lunch. A further game drive in the afternoon will no doubt end a memorable day’s game viewing. Return to the camp and enjoy a relaxing dinner and a sociable evening with new found friends.
Day 3: Enjoy a traditional early morning game drive at sunrise and return to the camp for breakfast. A game drive after breakfast gives you the opportunity to take those last, memorable photographs. Return to the camp for lunch before flying back to Bamburi, arriving at your hotel in time for dinner.

Game Ranger CourseWhilst staying at the Kilimanjaro-Kimana Game Sanctuary, you have the unique opportunity to learn and understand the basic role of a Game Ranger.
One Day Introduction Course : £65 per person
During the day, you will learn the basic principles of being a Game Ranger with theory and practical lessons. You will also go on a walk with the Game Ranger and learn how to read animal tracks and recognise the local plants and vegetation.
Three Day Course: £129 per person
In addition to the above, a more in-depth knowledge of a Game Ranger’s responsibilities is taught on this course. Learn about the creation and daily preservation of the Game Sanctuary, the qualifications required to become a Game Ranger, the procedures in place to avoid poaching, veterinary support for the animals and how the local Masai people live together with the animals in their natural habitat. This course can be booked only in conjunction with our two night Kilimanjaro Kimana safari, and also incorporates a daily game drive.
Please note: Some of the game drives listed on your actual safari itinerary will not be undertaken whilst participating on the course to allow time for this exciting and interesting learning experience. Whichever course you decide to take, you will return with a souvenir of your experience by way of a certificate containing the honorary title of ‘Game Ranger’.
