Helping Charities - African Safari Club

SCA Children’s Appeal & Climb For Kenya

Samson Chivatsi African Children's Appeal - logoThe Samson Chivatsi African Children’s Appeal (SCO27998) was established in 1998 by Maureen and Ian McIntyre, after visiting a school whilst on holiday in Kenya.

They were so affected by the poverty, poor health and lack of facilities at the school that, on returning to Scotland, Maureen set up the charity.

Their sponsorship programme gives the poorest children access to a good education. The charity was named after the first child that Maureen and Ian sponsored.

Climb for Kenya
On 25 July 2006 Alex Campbell, of African Safari Club, climbed to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise £2120 & awareness for the SCA Children’s Appeal.

Indi Nursery Project

Indi Nursery ProjectThe Indi Project helps children to move out of poverty by promoting education, health and nutrition for those who are orphaned and disadvantaged in Kenya. It inspires community participation within Kenya and focuses on this local involvement to develop responsible and positive citizens and self sustainability of the projects work. How we have helped - a quote from the Indi Project:
"African Safari Club have supported the Indi Project since the beginning, by providing considerable support with my flights to Kenya. Without their support, it would have been impossible to finance the regular trips to oversee and support the work and progress of the school. African Safari Club have also assisted in flying the many necessary charity items out to the children and it is a pleasure to be able to acknowledge their support on this site."

MEAK - Medical and Educational Aid to Kenya

MEAK - logoAbout MEAK
MEAK is a small UK registered charity dedicated to sending medical and educational aid to hospitals, clinics and schools in Kenya as well as organising medical missions.

Teams of medics - doctors and nurses from the UK - carry out heart surgery on children in Nairobi and Mombasa; other teams carry out eye surgery on people of all ages in the remoter regions of Kenya.

MEAK is unusual in that it is run by a very small team of three people - none of whom take any payment for their effort. This means that every penny donated goes directly towards helping Kenyan people whose circumstances would otherwise preclude them from receiving any medical intervention.

MEAK and African Safari Club - A quote from MEAK:
“MEAK receives tremendous support from African Safari Club who regularly carry everything from a needle to a heart and lung machine on their weekly flights and also offer free (or heavily subsidised) flights for the MEAK medical teams. Without the support of African Safari Club, MEAK’s works would be seriously curtailed.”

Certification
At a recent meeting of the Trustees of MEAK it was decided that it would be appropriate to acknowledge the support received from certain organisations in Kenya. I am sure you know how grateful we are for the unstintin support and encouragement we have received from African Safari Club although, perhaps, we have not always found time to express it properly. Accordingly, it was unanimously decided that African Safari Club should be one of the first of our certificates issued.

Tsunami Relief Fund

Throughout the month of January 2005 (4th-31st), we raised a total of £1239 for the Disasters Emergency Committee, more details below...

Our warmest, heartfelt wishes go to all those who were affected in any way by the South East Asia earthquake on the 26th December 2005. Our sincere condolences go to the families and friends of those who lost their lives.

African Safari Club has not directly been affected by the disaster but we are conscious of the dire need to raise money to assist those less fortunate than ourselves to return to normality.

We therefore decided to donate £1 per passenger to the Disasters Emergency Committee for all African Safari Club bookings taken between the 4th and 31st January 2005.
