The 40 detached bungalows overlook well-tended tropical grounds. They are air-conditioned, spacious, simply furnished and have a large terrace, twin beds and a private shower and wc. There is also a 13-amp power point and a safe, for which a small charge is made. The bungalows have the added attraction of a small, separate lounge area.
Wining and DiningThe small and intimate restaurant offers varied hot and cold buffet style meals at breakfast and lunch. Dinner will be served from either a buffet or table d'hote menu. For that special occasion, a separate à la carte menu specialises in local seafood dishes at very reasonable prices. Refreshing drinks are available throughout the day from the 'Dhow' bar which has stunning views over the beach and lagoon beyond. In the evening, the Neptune bar is a popular meeting place.
Facilities and EntertainmentThe unique location of the hotel on Kilifi lagoon means that it benefits year-round from perfect conditions for windsurfing, pedalos, canoes and snorkelling, all of which are free of charge. Scuba diving and waterskiing are also available at the hotel, for a supplement. For the less energetic, treat yourself to a soothing massage (payable locally) or simply soak up the atmosphere of Kenya by relaxing on a sun bed, for which a small charge is made (approximately £1 per person per day) around the swimming pool which overlooks the hotel’s small beach. Please note that pool towels are not provided. The pace on dry land is more relaxed - the hotel has a tennis court and the staff organise occasional daytime activities such as beach volleyball and walking tours around the lagoon. Evening entertainment is provided several nights each week.
ExcursionsA programme of exciting optional daytime and evening excursions is available during your stay at the Laguna Sea Lodge. The full day Mombasa tour takes you to the historical port of Mombasa where trade ships once sailed between Arabia, Persia and India. Our Mida Creek full day trip takes you by boat to a small island for a barbecue lunch and then to a local Giriama village. A half day Malindi tour visits the town and the Gedi Ruins, the remains of a 13th Century Islamic walled city. Prices of excursions start from just £22 per person and are only bookable locally. Further details can be found in our General Information Booklet which will be sent with your Confirmation Invoice.
Diving HolidaysThe diving school at the Laguna Sea Lodge Hotel offers excellent diving facilities for both the beginner and the more experienced. PADI courses are available as well as CMAS beginner courses. The diving season operates from September to April.
