Conservation Code

Endangered species are protected by law under the Conservation on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). It is illegal to bring CITES listed marine animals through customs, including all sea turtles, giant clams, hard corals and black corals.

The reefs off the Seychelles and other Indian Ocean islands are home to many endangered and threatened species. However, legislation does not cover all the animals at risk so please resist the temptation to buy products made from sea turtles and other reef animals.

The islands of the Indian Ocean will dazzle you with beautiful species of flora, however many of these are rare plants which are only found on these islands. Please do not pick any flowers or take any plant life as souvenirs.

These islands also have some of the worlds remaining unpolluted beaches and you are kindly asked to leave them as unspoilt as you found them and take all litter away with you.
