The Foreign and Commonwealth Office have amended their travel advice for Luxor. Due to the area remaining consistently calm throughout the political unrest they are no longer advising against non essential travel to Luxor. In light of this our Nile Cruise Holidays will be operating as normal from the 28th February 2011.

Holidays to Taba Heights have been totally unaffected and are operating as normal.

Luxor Flights due to depart Monday 21 February
We understand from our Agents in Egypt that Luxor and Aswan remain calm. However, based upon the current FCO advice, which still recommends against all non-essential travel to Luxor, we have decided not to operate any Nile Cruises or holidays to Luxor departing on Monday 21 February. Our customer services team are currently contacting all clients that have been affected by this change.

Flights and Holidays to Taba Heights
These flights are operating as normal. In the event this should change our customer services team will contact all clients affected.

Luxor flights departing from 28 February onwards
These flights, holidays and cruises are currently operating as planned. We will be assesing the situation on a weekly basis. If the decision is taken not to operate any Nile Cruises or holidays on 28 February then we will be contacting any clients who are affected on Friday 25 February.

We kindly ask any clients due to fly to Luxor on or after 28 February that, rather than telephone us, you wait to be contacted by a member of our customer services team. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding.

We understand from our Agents in Egypt that Luxor and Aswan have remained more or less calm. However, based upon the current FCO advice, which still recommends against all non-essential travel to Luxor, we have decided not to operate any Nile Cruises or holidays to Luxor departing on Monday 14 February. Our customer services team are currently contacting all clients that have been affected by this change. Clients are being given the option to cancel or transfer to an alternative departure date or destination.

Luxor Flights due to depart Monday 31 January

There have been reports of a number of demonstrations in Cairo and other locations across Egypt over the past few days. 

African Safari Club are committed to ensuring the safety of our customers and receive regular Foreign Office Travel Advice updates.  We are also closely monitoring the situation and liaising with our Agents in Egypt who have advised us that if demonstrations occur, these are likely to predominantly be in Cairo.

Cairo is over 400 miles from Luxor and 250 miles from Taba Heights where the vast majority of our holiday programmes take place and we do not foresee that our customers will be affected.  However, our holiday itineraries will be amended to avoid any areas where demonstrations are likely to occur should our Agents feel it is necessary.
