Scattered around the lush grounds, the 155 terraced bungalows and detached chalets are simply furnished in keeping with the hotel's character. All have a private shower and wc, a terrace with table and chairs, a 13-amp power point and a safe, for which a small charge is made. Most of the bungalows are air-conditioned and the majority of the chalets, which are situated on the bluff, have ceiling fans and spectacular views over the bay or the Indian Ocean. Suites are air-conditioned, have a separate lounge, a fridge, small dressing room and a large bathroom with shower and wc, and twin washbasins. They also have a small veranda with table and chairs and are situated close to the beach.
Wining and DiningAt the Club Hotel Watamu Beach you will enjoy the true flavour of Africa. The main building is characterised by its traditional Makuti style architecture - wooden posts and beams supporting a high thatched roof creating a light, spacious and airy atmosphere. The colonial style lounge and bar, with ornate fish pools scattered around, overlooks the beach. Here you can relax enjoying a refreshing drink before dinner, soaking up the casual, friendly ambience which reflects the Kenyan culture. Breakfast and lunch are taken buffet style in the attractive open fronted dining room where you can take your pick from a choice of varied hot and cold cuisine. Dinner will be served from either a buffet or table d'hote menu. For an extra special treat, you can savour the à la carte menu at the pool grill for a small supplement.
Facilities and EntertainmentStep out into the extensive tropical gardens and you will find an inviting swimming pool, a poolside bar, a games area, beach bar and a patio where entertainment is provided several evenings each week.
Typical entertainment at the hotel may include an African Night with tribal dancers and live music. Close by is the typical African village of Watamu where you can expect to receive a warm welcome from the local people and catch a glimpse of Kenyan village lifestyle.
The hotel’s sports facilities include tennis, bowling, crazy golf, beach volleyball and table tennis, all of which you can enjoy free of charge. Of course you can always just stretch out for a while on the sun terrace or sandy beach on a sunbed for which a small charge is made (approximately £1 per person per day). Please note that pool towels are not provided. Watersports from pedalos, windsurfing and dinghy sailing to snorkelling and canoeing are available at the Club Hotel Sea Horse at Kilifi, to which transport is arranged two times a week (approximately 1 hour). Lunch will be provided at the Club Hotel Sea Horse.
Please note: Owing to the changing winds and tides, the beach at Watamu is subject to seaweed at certain times of the year, particularly the months of May to September, however we do our best to keep it clear.
A programme of exciting optional daytime and evening excursions is available during your stay at the Club Hotel Watamu Beach. The full day Mombasa tour takes you to the historical port of Mombasa where trade ships once sailed between Arabia, Persia and India.
