Flamingo Beach Hotel Reviews

Our holiday at the Flamingo Beach Hotel in Kenya was absolutely excellent and, much more exceeded our expectations. On arrival after a long flight, the staff members greeted us with a song, a cold flannel and a cold drink that was greatly appreciated.

The waiter, the bar staff, coffee shop girls, cleaner of our room, pool boy and the Gardner went out of the way to make sure that we had everything we needed, we told the manager about the staff and he personally made sure our appreciation was passed onto everyone.

We have also told lots of friends and family, and showed photos and videos. By the way the Crocodile safari was excellent, the staff were brilliant, and went out of there way to please you and make sure you had enough to eat. As I am allergic to fruit, so made sure I had a pudding I could eat. Thank you once again for a superb holiday. We hope to return next year if we can.
We recently returned home from a two week holiday in Kenya with African Safari Club, 11th-25th August 2007. Our main reason for going was to visit Jolourabi School as we looked after a little girl when the choir visited the UK last year.

Our flight to Kenya was the most comfortable flight we have ever been on; the air crew were helpful, efficient and professional at all times. We felt in very safe hands, it didn’t feel like nine hours in the air at all.

The welcome at the Flamingo hotel was fantastic and will stay with us forever. The staff at this hotel are a credit to your company, they really did help to make our holiday unforgettable. From the porter Sylus, who always had a lovely smile and who our daughter thought the world of, to Simon our waiter and Simon our cleaner. Not forgetting Julius the head waiter, and lovely Said the gardener, with his brilliant talent for weaving with Palm leaves, and Lawrence the chef. They were all top class; you could not find more interesting, helpful and kind people anywhere else in the world. The managers of the hotel Marc and Macher were interested in their guests and always around to speak to.

So we would like to express our thanks for a great holiday and would request that our gratitude and best wished are passed on to everyone at this lovely hotel. Also thank you to your reservations team, who were always helpful and knowledgeable. Once again they are a credit to African Safari Club. We wouldn’t hesitate to travel with you again.
Thank you so much for helping to organise the honeymoon I wanted to write because we had the most fantastic time, and it was defiantly a holiday to remember. The extra trip that we went on (the sundowner) was a lovely start to our honeymoon and we didn’t realise that the first sunset we saw was only a small insight into some of the wonderful views we were going to experience!

Out first suit was lovely with a fabulous view of the sea, we were very impressed especially because we had 4 rooms to ourselves and a huge balcony. The first evening we ate in the Blue Lagoon restaurant and I must admit there was only one other time we ate in there, because we decided to try out the other hotels. The service was great and the food was lovely.

The next few days were lovely, the pool boys and the pool waiters were great, especially Patrick and Shadrack at the pool bar, they made us feel very welcomed and comfortable.

Then we went on safari, and what a safari it was.....it was fantastic. I read some of peoples comments on trip advisor and they do seem to chat a load of rubbish! We felt that ‘Out of Africa’ was great value for money and we had a superb, amazing, fantastic time (I think you get the idea!). All the staff were very polite and friendly and Simon at Twiga camp in Kilimanjaro taught us some local lingo, brilliant. We arrived back at the hotel to be put in our new room, the Twiga suit which was even nicer than the first room.

I must say the food in the Watamu Grill, Piccolino, and Kasa was superb I have never tasted such nice food in both the Watamu and Kasa. The staff in all three restaurants were brilliant, polite, funny and very friendly which was lovely and made us want to eat there more.

The only time we ate in the Flamingo’s restaurant was breakfast and lunch and the 2 gentlemen that waited on us were brilliant always smiling, happy and full of conversation. We ate on table 56 outside; unfortunately I didn't catch their names however I would like you to know there are some members of your team that are giving 120% to their jobs. The food I have to admit wasn’t fantastic, there was always a massive spread, the mash potatoes, some pasta and the little home made pizzas were lovely.

Lawrence the Chef at breakfast and sometimes lunch was brilliant, a great chef, and again he was always smiling and happy to chat to you about you holiday/family/safari etc. The main bar in the evening was always busy, Daniel our waiter was lovely, very attentive and efficient which was really nice. One final member of staff I need to mention is Ambrose at reception; he is a great member of the Flamingo hotel team. No matter what time of the day I saw him he always had a wonderful smile on his face and was warm and inviting, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble for him. It was definitely members of staff like Ambrose that made our Kenya experience memorable.

I would definitely return to Kenya and I would also definitely use ASC again because it was a great honeymoon and one that I wouldn’t change for the world. Thanks again.
